Half Japanese Half American. Born in 1995 in New Jersey and now based in Osaka, Japan, Rob Taro is a filmmaker and creative deeply rooted in the skateboarding community. After moving to Japan in 2016, what began as a pursuit of photography quickly evolved into documenting the underground skate scene. His first video was featured on Thrasher, leading to years of working around skateboarding while based in Tokyo. Passionate about highlighting overlooked talent, Rob launched his own project TIMESCAN collaborating with skaters and artists, releasing two full-length films, numerous shorts, and hosting events that support and showcase Japan’s skateboarding scene. He is currently working on his third full-length film.

Rob Taro。1995年、アメリカ・ニュージャージー州の小さな町に生まれた日米ハーフのフィルムメイカー／クリエイター。現在は大阪を拠点に活動している。2016年に来日し、当初は写真を学ぶつもりだったが、日本のアンダーグラウンドなスケートボードシーンに魅了され、映像制作の道へと進む。初めて制作したスケート映像が Thrasher に掲載され、それをきっかけに東京を拠点にスケートボードに関わる仕事を続けてきた。まだ知られていないスケーターたちに光を当てたいという思いから、自身のプロジェクト「TIMESCAN」を立ち上げ、スケーターやアーティストとのコラボレーションを展開。これまでに2本のフルレングス作品と多数のショートムービーを発表し、ローカルスケートショップとのイベント開催などを通して、日本のスケートボードシーンを記録・発信し続けている。現在は大阪を拠点に、3作目となるフルレングス作品を制作中。
